  Test Lab Automation

Dear  ,

Challenges

Deploying a secure, robust, automated and transparent lab infrastructure poses many challenges. The complexity of the multiple environments you must support whilst ensure security is by no means easy.

In fact, scalability, flexibility and robustness are critical to maximizing test tool utilization. However, flexibility, which is often associated to changes within the network topology at short notice, can also lead to security vulnerabilities.

Test teams are not co-located and, if they are co-located, it is not unusual for the test teams to be separated across the facilities, which could mean hundreds of meters, if not kilometers, apart. This, in turn, brings up challenges for remote access to the test environment and significant delays when changing topologies.

Security requirements are also significantly, meaning a need to ensure each communications path is “hardened” to safeguard against crosstalk or inter-bleeding of links. In-turn, a robust environment is also critical as continuously moving cables on a standard patch panel can introduce human errors thru mistakes made during cable connectivity placement and even cause damage to non-ruggedized connectors, including introducing dirt. Both resulting in degradation of performance.

Solutions

Our partner, Netscout, has a long and proven history globally within the Government and Military market, enable us to deliver an established solution specifically designed to meet the above challenges.
Intelligent, scalable and secure technology offer the ability to create test infrastructure that will significantly improve your network, security and application test cycles.

The Test Optimization solutions allow agencies via the TestStream Lab Management platform to easily address all of the challenges. Permissions-based structure enables control over the lab environment to ensure group strategies are followed, enabling maximization of resources. All of this is done via a single pain of glass.
Example features associated to this include saving/recalling complex environments, scheduling test cases, asset management, secure remote access and impairment, without physically needing to access the lab. This is a “Wire Once” lab management approach.

Test Optimization Benefits

The Netscout nGenius 3900 Services Packet Flow Switch, along with our TestStream Lab Management Software, provides the industry’s highest scalability, flexibility and security to meet the specific needs of the challenging markets. These features, along with many other key attributes, enable significant benefits to test lab managers by reducing test cycle time and realizing substantial savings on CapEX and OpEX.

A Test Optimization Solution from Netscout can help to:

  • Increase confidence
    • Ensuring a completely “Hardened” system and elimination of crosstalk or inter-bleed of paths.
    • Removal of human error with respect to manually changing network topologies.
    • Eliminating concerns around lab security and access rights, all can be done and controlled remotely via simple permissions structure.
  • Increase utilization
    • Highest port density supporting both legacy speeds of 10/100Mbps (copper) all the way to 100Gbps (SM/MM fiber) and beyond.
    • Securely monitor and reconfigure network infrastructure from any location, improving access to all connected lab equipment.
    • Increase both test tool, Devices Under Test and personnel efficiency resulting in less downtime and reduced user error.
  • Reduce time
    • Improve test time by creating complex network topologies quickly and reliably.
    • Automatically generate reports and detailed audit trails.
    • Increase lab infrastructure visibility enabling swift insights into lab Utilization.
  • Save money
